Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
Another victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, especially after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in match.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved outmatched against a largely rotated Palace outfit. The visitors were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to escape a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
