The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
