Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
